Artist Statement
Morganne Byrnes also known as MorgByr is a mixed media artist currently working in moving and still image making, craft based practices, writing and Critical Ethnic Studies. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area they are a BFA candidate at California College of the Arts majoring in Individualized Studies and Minoring in Critical Ethnic Studies. Morganne’s work revolves around the concept of humanity shown through topics such as childhood, grief, technology / AI, the microscopic, and more.
Morganne has received the Creative Achievement Award Scholarship from CCA and 2 professional group gallery shows so far. Morganne works part time for local SF film projects, freelance jewelry & photography commissions, a printing & computer lab monitor, one of the CCA JMA Guild Leaders, teaching themselves Adobe software, and doing graphic design and judgement work for the Kyoto International Student Film & Video Festival. When not being artistically creative, Morganne spends time in their home town of San Diego with their family and friends, plays video games, teaches swim lessons / water safety to children, and spends time at the tide pools along the shore.
